Modern country sucks so bad. There are a few exceptions. I like Merle, Conway, Hank, and Johnnie.

I mean outside of Harrisburg there isn't anything really even close to a city in central PA (no State College doesn't count)

Or rowing your own in a manual diesel wagon?

I tend to like older country (Read: Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, C.W. McCall, etc...) better than modern redneck pop.

However, what I have some real love for (other than my usual rock, J-Pop and metal) is bluegrass.

well I have a W123 300TD, but its not a manual and not a wagon:(. But still so nice to late night cruise in. The Miata has took that role though.

Yup new stuff is fun to listen to. But the old stuff can never be outclassed, it is so much better to relax to. I do need to download some old Willie.

Right you are. I would never count State College as a major city. The circle jerk a lot of PA has for PSU is annoying. And Harrisburg is not fun enough to risk getting shot.

I only brought it up because people from State College like to think of it as a legitimate city. Ummmm no.

Being from Alabama and having lived in West/Central Pa., y'all are just as country as we are. Also, country rules all and Jamey Johnson kicks ass.

I used to go to baseball camps in PA and everytime SC was on they'd freak out about PSU. I'm just Syracuse! Also this was about the time the child molesting stuff was revealed too.

My local NPR is Cincinatti and I don't think they know any other music besides bluegrass and blues. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

lol yeah. Its not a "city", just another town that wouldn't be anything without the college. WVU is kinda like that to.But I don't think people consider it a city

That's not as bad as completely not knowing about a Jamey Johnson/Merle Haggard concert, 30 minutes away, finding out about it the next day. I am still sad about that 3 years later.

I think it actually broke when I was at camp that year and it was all people were talking about. Or it was before I was there.

There are a few modern artists I like but I wouldn't even put it in the same category as classic country. As for modern artists I like Brad Paisley and Toby Keith, as well as one artist I had no idea how many of his songs I liked, Rodney Atkins.

That sucks. I still haven't seen him and I want to, but now I live in NW Florida and the concerts are the white trash equivalent of the Gathering of the Juggalos. So I try to avoid them.

Agreed, it's good but I don't say I'm going to listen to country music and turn on one of them. If I'm listening to country music my preferred option is radio but living in a small town in southern Ohio we only have new country stations. I have to get closer to Columbus to listen to old country on the radio. Ironic, isn't it?

Dierks is great. Great performer live too (saw him at the Ventura country fair a few years back). As others have echoed, most modern country is pretty garbage, but there is good stuff. Old Luke Bryan, Josh Thompson, Justin Moore, Brad Paisley, Lee Brice (for the most part). A lot of Jake Owen's older stuff is really good. Also, Keith Urban back in his drug/alcohol days (albums like Golden Road and Be Here) are great.

The wife does... I tolerate it when she's in the car. Ironically I grew up on a farm, she grew up in the city.
